Emotions...
Happiness, sadness, longing, elation, etc
Emotions are the states of mind that make us who we are
And every day brings a new chance to change that person

We all go thru the range of emotions in our lives
Many of us go thru at least part of that range every day
We could be having a "bad day" and get an unexpected phone call
That changes our emotional outlook

The great thing about emotions is that
We all feel them every minute of every day
We may try to hide them from each other,
Especially when we are hurting,
But emotions are not easily hidden

At times of pure joy, the sparkle in your eyes
Is not something that can be hidden from others
At times of desperate sadness, even if you smile,
There is something hollow in it

All too often, we are afraid to show our emotions,
Especially to those closest to us
We close ourselves off and become "emotionally unavailable"
When the people around us are the ones best suited to comfort us in times of need,
And be the ones to help us celebrate the best of times

There are people who go thru their lives
Hiding all their emotions,
Showing the world a stoic exterior
While inside they are falling apart
Others wear their emotions on their sleeves
And there is never a doubt as to how they are feeling

Which of these is right?
The answer is this...
Both are right, at the right time
Hiding your emotions at times
Is what you need to do until you can sort thru them
And figure your best plan of action

At other times, it is great to show your emotions
And let those closest to you
Know that you are happy, sad, in pain, ecstatic,
Or the myriad other emotions you may be feeling
