"Stupid is as stupid does"...
At times we all live up to those words
We do things, say things, or make decisions
That we know are not just wrong,
But ultimately stupid

We stay in a relationship that we know is wrong for us
Even though we can see the error of our ways
We think it is easier to stay than to hurt or be hurt
Our friends counsel us against our decision,
And yet we make the conscious decision to do nothing about it

We do things in a relationship that we know are wrong
We shower that person with gifts and attention
All in an ttempt to hold onto something that is not true
In an effort to make it what we want it to be
But, in the end, we finally wake up
And realize that not only did we act foolishly,
We acted stupidly

We take a job that we know will not be right for us
Because we feel pressured into doing it
Pressured by outsiders and ourselves
Pressured because we think it is expected
That we will always look for advancement
When we are perfectly happy where we are
Happy doing what we do, where we do it, with people we like

The sane and rational decision is to stay where we are
And do the best we can at what we enjoy
But, stupidly, we accept the chance at "advancement"
In order to meet those expectations
And find out that the saying is true...
"The grass isn't always greener on the other side"

So, how do we keep from being stupid?
Easy...we can't
All we can hope, is that when we make stupid decisions,
Say those stupid things and take those stupid actions
That we realize it before mistakes are made that cannot be rectified
And that we can live with the ultimate consequences

Remember this though...
It is never too late to recover from stupidity
As long as you are willing to admit it, learn from it and move on
In a more sane, rational, mature and thoughtful way

Yes

Exactly C. Scott. We certainly learn from our mistakes, or are supposed to anyway.

Fond of your writing.
