Maybe No
20 July, 2010
Author: Ing Twi Demalah
Oh why, why do you torture me
If you would have let me
I know I could have loved you
smile, wink my way and move up closely
lips so lonely
close such that I cannot breathe
make my poor heart skip a beat
and weave yourself into me
within my fantasies
within my dreams
only to pass me by
leaving me a shadow of the man I was
but you keep me close enough to make you laugh
but never close enough to touch
Or maybe no
maybe my pain is of my own doing
perhaps I am not the one caught in longing
for unrequited love, is still love
No, it is you who misses out not I
And perhaps I can love you
and yet, not be bound by you.
But instead let that love shine forth
And light within the depths of my soul
A fire, giving me strength to rise in life
Higher that than even I thought possible
Such that the memory of my voice
and the emptiness of my absence
will haunt you
