Second Chances by C. Scott

There are times that life hands you a second chance
A chance to go back and right a wrong
A chance to say the things you have always wanted to say
A chance to do the things you have always wanted to do
A chance to be the person you have always wanted to be
What you do with that chance is entirely up to you

Most people are never afforded that second chance
The mistakes they make are not reversible
The disease they get is fatal
The "moments" are not re-livable
So, when given that second chance, be sure to take it

Be sure to apologize to the people you may have hurt
Hurt with deeds or words,
People that may have been trying to help
And you thought them nothing more than an annoyance
Reconsider your thoughts and make things right
Don't waste an opportunity to tell those people that are special to you
Just how much their love and support have meant

You can't always go back and undo the things you have done
There will be things that cannot be put right no matter how hard you try
But, that does not mean you don't have to make the effort
Make the effort to do right by the people you have wronged
If they choose not to be mollified or accept your apology
Then you have done all you can do
And you can move on with a free and clear conscience

Even more than the ability to make amends with others though
Is the ability to make amends with yourself
Second chances allow you to go back and make the changes you want to make
The changes that can help you become more the person you want to be
The chance to make the changes you thought impossible

Modern medicine is giving me that opportunity
The opportunity to see the things I have done wrong
The opportunity to make the changes I want to make
The opportunity to live the life I want to live
Now it is up to me
Do I have the strength and courage to do it?
Only time will tell
All I know is this...I see the chance I have been given
And I am willing to try to take full advantage of it

Second chances
This poem to me makes me realize the importance of the second change of asking for forgiveness, for sharing love and friendship. Sometimes the first time around we are so caught up in the event we forget to realize the importance. I really like this poem it holds a great lesson in life.
