The Place I Never Was
4 September, 2010
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
I gaze at the picture that hangs on the wall
A place I have never been, yet always have
If I close my eyes I am there
I watch the waterfall and feel it's mist
I can hear the rumblings of it's descent
I see the colors of autumn beginning to tip the trees
I can smell the moist leaves under my feet
I look to the distant mountains taking in their splendor
The white mountain tops with the shadows of the sky
The pine trees, across the river, fringe it's edges
I watch as a deer bows its head to feed
I look to the little house upon the shore
I think how wonderful it would be to live here
So peaceful and serene amidst the nature
To be an artist and capture this very moment
I open my eyes to where I have been, yet never was
I gaze at the picture that hangs on the wall
And I still feel the comfort of the place

Meridian (205.188.116.135) -- Monday, September 20 2010, 04:19 am Wonderful poem. I used to do that all the time. I used to look at the picture on my right, where I am at now, and imagine myself living on/in the countryside. I love country - the vastness of the lands, the never-ending picket fence, the house on the hill. It's so serene, like you said. Don't you wish you could just jump in a photo and live there for some time? |
