Push You Under My Summer
7 October, 2010
Author: Pondering Red
We never tangoed.
We did dance
to some songs -
mostly solo.
I escaped to another
world
where
you
did not exist..
Eyes closed,
I swayed
to the music.
You
destroyed
my late summer,
deleted
my good feelings.
My euphoria
burst
and your cigarette sweat soaked
ripped up greasy jeans
started to fade.
You desperately
wanted to remain
in the picture -
lying,
making up storys
pleading,
to get to stay -
no way.
I watched you fade,
dissolve,
disintegrate,
finally disappear
into the concrete
heat polluted
exhaust filled
road.
I pushed your
memory
under
a rock
way under my summer
of joy
and plans fulfilled.
Now
you are nowhere.
