The Encaptured Beast Within
18 October, 2010
Author: Maitree Muzumdar
The fiery eyes gleamed,
All the more bright,
Luminiscence spread;
All the more wild.
The naive master smirked-
As the caged beast snarled...
Tied up and leashed,
Yet on the prowl...
Swish! Went the cane;
It growled in pretended pain;
The master locked it's force-
Into the dark chambers...
He carried out his show,
With the beast in veils;
He jeered at the audience,
But it never was him...
The audience though clapped,
He laughed at the mules-
For hidden for him
Was his beloved beast beautiful...
The angrier it got,
The happier felt he,
The fiercer it felt,
The harder to chain...
More the master ate,
Healthier was the beast,
Scratching and tearing,
The cage apart...
The master unaware,
Reluctant for the show,
Meanwhile the beast,
Silently encroached;
The light still dark,
The master at show-
Scorning at the audience,
The beast's eyes glow...
