Unexpected Friends by C. Scott

People decry the use of social networking web sites
They say that they are leading to the decline of interpersonal relationships
They are leading to more people actually not meeting
But spending too much time on their computers...
I couldn't disagree more

Over the past several years
I have made the closest friends I have ever had
By meeting on various social networking sites
From dating sites to chat rooms
Some of the most special friends I have ever had, or ever will have,
Have come from these sites

I have spent time with these friends,
Forged relationships that will last the rest of my life,
Have welcomed them into my family
And have been welcomed into theirs

The best friend I have ever had, and ever will have
Came from one of these sites
We talked every day,
We flew to meet each other on several occasions
And now she is as close to me and my family
As a natural sister could ever be

Another friend is one that I met on a dating site
We dated off and on over a period of time
Fell in and out of each others lives
And have now settled into a deep and lasting friendship
If it weren't for that web site,
She never would have entered my life

And now I have met someone new
Someone that came from nowhere
And is now someone I can't wait to chat with on a daily basis
Another special woman that has shown care and concern
Even though we have never met face to face

So, let the critics tear down social networking sites
Let them have their say
I am now, and forever will be, grateful for them
For they have brought me some of the most incredible friends
Any person could ever hope for

Blessed
I am so blessed to also have met special friends through the internet.. People that I hope to never lose and those that walked through left there mark and I was blessed to be a part of! Love you writing hope to read some new stuff soon!
