Truth Hurts

Truth hurts
But it's best
Lying is easy
But it’s wrong
Like someone before said
Lying is like butter on bread
The more you lie
The more that lie begins to spread
No one likes that someone getting mad
When we did something to make them mad
Coming out with the truth
Seems very bad
Because we begin to think
Of what we could’ve done differently
So we wouldn’t have to swallow hard
Before we confess and take cover
It could either mean violence
Or the treatment we call silent
They can’t stay mad forever
Depending on what it is
And what we’ve done
Because lying to someone
Makes matters worse
Honesty is a value
We should use and hold tight
So the person we call close
Could count on us
To tell them what they need to know
Instead of leaving them in the dark
And lying like a pro
Until crocodile tears show
Until we've dug a ditch too deep
Wishing we’d told the truth
For the sake of
Having a good night’s sleep
