Back From The Dead

Was a mummy
Now I’m resurrected
Was in the dark
Now I’m in the light
Was dead
Now I’m alive
Was sleeping
Now I’m awake
Was breathless
Now I’m breathing
Was speechless
Now I’m speaking
Was immobile
Now I’m walking
It feels good
To come back to life
Been missing out
On so much
Still in love
With God’s touch
Bless my soul
Make me whole
Before mummification
Takes its toll
Yet again
Want my eyes
To stay open
They’ve been closed
For so long
Got my coffee perking
To stay awake
Standing by
On guard
For the inevitable
I’m a one-woman
Security team
Been living
In a dream
But now
I’m trying to be the cream
Of the crop
I’m trying to
Stay on top
Eyes crusted
From teardrops
Body dirty
From being unwashed
Mummification
Left my spirits squashed
But restoration
Is finally here
Since I’ve come back
My mission’s clear
To take the reigns
To steer
Out of the life of a mime
Into the life of power
Can’t live my entire life
Being a coward
It’s time to take action
And fight through
All manner of distraction
