Worry
9 June, 2011
Author: Meridian Zuriel
Think I saw a single gray hair
Yesterday
Too young to
Worry my life away
Worrying about what I said
What I did
What I could’ve done differently
Worrying if they still love me
Worrying if I’ll be forgiven
Worrying if this will work out
Worrying if I’ll pass this
Worrying if I’ll defeat that
Worrying about my soul
Worrying if I make Jesus proud
Worrying until I’m
Covered with this dark cloud
Called depression
Filled with anxiety
Until the cloud bursts
Over my head relentlessly
Representing my tears
Been worrying
Out the womb
Don’t want to take this
Worrying to the tomb
But how do you take it
One step at a time
When you’ve worried
Your whole life
When worrying’s all you do
When it’s automatic
Worrying if you’re liked
Worrying if you served well
Worrying until you
Eat
Drink
Sleep
Wake
Live
Talk worry
Until the brain’s
Like curry
Blended with voices
Blended with premonitions
Blended with fear
Of the unknown
You want to ring a bell
To dispel the tones
Quiet! You say
Shut up! You say
Leave me alone
Go away
Can I live at least one day
Without worrying
I ask myself
Because I need some help
Can I leave my burdens
In God’s hands
And permanently quit
Pulling my hair by its strands
I hope so
I want to think nothing of it
Especially if it involves me
Doing the best I could do
Or upholding my end of the bargain
Or apologizing to you
Or doing what I was supposed to
I want to leave it in the wind
To not resurface
And torture me again
