Obedience

Heard obedience
Is better than sacrifice
All my life
The saying holds true
Wouldn’t want to give up
Something of value
If dad said
Come on let’s go
Then I’ve got no choice
But to follow
If mom says
Shut up and do this
Then I’ve got
To obey
Those that have rule
Over me
Instead of pouting
And shouting
No I won’t!
Or refuse to do
What I’m asked
Got to honor my elders
Everywhere
Not just mom and dad
But all those
In authority
Means that they have
Rule over me
I want to live a long life
Don’t want my actions
To cut down my span
Because I
Disobeyed commands
How do you think
A senior chief
Got his position
Got to tell a petty officer
What to do
He had to obey and respect
And not neglect
His missions, his tasks
He had to do
What was asked
Obedience will take you
A long way
So that when you get older
Those you’ll rule over
Will do what you say
And you may
Have quite a few
Hard heads
But don’t falter
Stay firm instead
Obedience as a rule
Is what those in authority
Expect you to have
Especially if you know better
Are developed cognitively
If you’re told to clean something
Then do it in its totality
Give it a rest
Complain less
Fight your rebellion
And say yes
Your obedience
Won’t be in vain
You’ll be remembered
And rewarded
For behaving well
Keep living
Time will tell
