Misconstruction
15 June, 2011
Author: Meridian Zuriel
I tell you something
You tell them what I said
They tell what you said
They pass on what they said
Until it gets back to me
Sounding differently than
When it was told originally
Now you got one big lie
Or a case of misconstruction
Got people hating me
Debating me
Taking words out of context
Making false implications
I’m not up for a debate
But I’d wish you’d
Get your story straight
And if you got it straight
Imply it right
Don’t misconstrue
Got a question for me
I’ll answer you
I’ll tell you what I meant
I’ll tell you what I said
So you can hear it
From the horse’s mouth
And if you heard it
From the horse’s mouth
And feel like you
Just got to
Carry this news out
Then understand it first
Before you report
Don’t beg for a retort
***
Because I don’t say
What you want to hear
No need to become a beast
And bite off my ear
If it ain’t insulting
Or harmful in anyway
But uncompromising
Why corner me?
Can we
Respect each others opinion
And just see differently
What’s with argumentatively
Telling me you disagree
So you disagree
Snapping like a crocodile
Is unnecessary
Info sweeps like a broom
And combs like a rake
News can go out real
And come back fake
It can go out true
And come back false
Go out straight
And come back twisted
And if you’re part of the hearers
That said you heard
Then just keep it at heard
Because half of the tongues clucking
Ain’t spreading the true word
Carefully choose what you believe
And don’t be deceived
Think before you take in
The mouthful you’re about to receive
Think before you pass on
Especially if you don’t know
Because misconstruction
Can really jack up someone’s info
