Love's Lesson
4 July, 2011
Author: Meridian Zuriel
It’s good when you can hold no grudges
When you can hug the person who stabbed you
When you can forgive the person who hurt you
When the person you’ve hurt can do the same
It’s good when you can pray for all
Bend your knees and call out their name
And still love them anyway
It’s good when you can have love for a bully
Even though you don’t forget the past
It’s good when you can move on
And not let the anger last
It’s good when you can smile at a naysayer
It’s good when you can talk to
The person who
Doesn’t like you
It’s good when you can live and let live
It’s good when you can carry on
It’s good when you can help your enemy
It’s good if I don’t let so-and-so
Get to me
Or better yet
Get the best of me
It’s good that I can live, get older
And not act foolish, but act wise
It’s good for me to love all
And not despise
Or have hate in my heart for anyone
It’s good for me to love mankind
But not be blind
By personality or disposition
But discern
Hoping to avoid getting burned
It’s good to love even though
It’s easier said than done
Because the shining of the Son
Is better than the darkening
Of the blanketed sky
If I
Chose to be stubborn and selfish
Holding grudges
About the stupid
And to borrow from Cupid
As an example to illustrate a point
It’s good to be
Free
Knowing no one can judge me
Alluding to how I used to be
When I was relentlessly
Angry
Course I vented in MO
But after a decade
Some garbage has got to go
It’s time to recycle the trash
Get out of the past
Move on from there
And make the love last
Love don’t have to be
Shown in return
There’s no more you can do
After it’s given
Just love, forgive
Move on and continue living

Meri (72.64.32.243) -- Friday, March 16 2012, 02:33 pm Thanks Barb. I surely don't want to carry nothing to my grave, no matter how hard it is to let things go. Moving on is easier said than done - depending on what it is - but at some point I've got to learn to forgive instead of forget. Besides, I've done and said things that I regret, so I try to make it right so that I'll be forgiven. |
