Don't Ask, Expecting
4 July, 2011
Author: Meridian Zuriel
Don’t ask a question
Expecting a specific answer
That defeats the purpose of asking
Don’t get hot at the person
You asked the truth from
If you asked
Then expect either a good or a bad
But don’t puff up and get mad
The truth ain’t always
Pleasing to the ear
Some people just don’t
Tell you what you want to hear
So it’s best that we
You and me
Suck it up like a straw
Bite the bullet
And accept the truth
Whether direct or indirect
Of course the intent
Is not to give disrespect
If the advice is constructive
And it’s from somebody
Who’s serious, all about wisdom
In the position to tell us something
Then take it in
Conviction and guilt
Is a bad feeling
But whether one toe was crushed
Or all ten
Don’t discontinue
Being a friend
If you ask
Then a fact and/or an opinion is expected
But don’t ask
Expecting to be pacified and protected
Don’t ask a question involving self
Unless you’d really want to know
Honesty won’t always make you feel nice
But it is better than hearing
Words that entice
Treasure that friend
Who looks out for you
Learn to discern
What is true
Nobody knows you
Better than you know yourself
If the person you ask
Ain’t giving you 100 percent
Then you’ll know
You’re better off without their help
