Unity

Author: Meridian Zuriel
Wonder why we aren’t unified
Wonder why you’re so dignified
Wonder why we aren’t one
Wonder why we can’t get along
Wonder why there’s warfare
Wonder why unity is just a joke
Will it ever be true
That there will be no bygones
Between me and you
Same blood
Same race
Same ethnicity
Same religion
Same belief
Same nation
We’re the same
But it’s
Such a shame
I shake my head
And wonder why
What’s going on?
What’s this beef
Between you and I
Uproot the weed
Plant a new seed
Of peace and harmony
World brotherhood
Sisters included
Young and old
Be bold
And break the cycle
Of disunity
Break the chains
That separate
You from me
We aren’t no different from each other
I know you aren’t in my family tree
But you’re still my sister and my brother
We’re supposed to look out for one another
I wasn’t born into this world
Just to comply and go with the flow
I’m like those who
Want to bind together and grow
Together
In sunny and rainy weather
How come we aren’t one?
Will we ever be?
I have yet to see
Isms and schisms
Dissipate among humanity
------- Author's Notes -------
Replaced all my ain'ts with aren'ts this time. I have yet to use isn't. It's good to get away from the colloquial for a change. |
