I am African.
The sun has kissed my skin.
The humidity has dried my tongue.
My hair is tucked underneath a silky, black head wrap.
I am standing among the almost-bare trees, pink campanulas and purple foxgloves in the forest.
Birds caw as they fly overhead in the distance.
It looks as though it may rain. Whether it rains or not, I’d rather stay here and bathe in the shade, where it’s cool at.

***

As I turn to my left, I allow nature to brush up against my legs and bury my hand.
I am lost in my thoughts and mesmerized by all the colors of the Earth that surround me.
Peace overtakes me, as I remain in seclusion, enjoying meditation.
