The W And The Y
30 July, 2011
Author: Meridian Zuriel
Arms stretched wide like a Y
Legs together like an I
This is the Yes sign
The I can sign
The Smiley face sign
The feeling divine sign
You know why it’s good to say yes
It gives your lips a rest
From saying no
Shaking that head straight up and down
Saying if the Lord says so
Guess I’ll put my feet in motion
And just go
One pastor said
Get up and do something
Make it happen
Don’t let the couch stick to your backside
Get out,
Leave the inside
Come from under that rock
Check out the outside
Stretch like you’re doing exercise
Adjust your eyes
Hold them arms out into a Y
And say yes I know that I
Can be happy
Feel happy
Can talk about the opposite
All day long
But in some point in my life
Got to bust out a new song
Replace Anger, depression and sadness
With fruitfulness, joy and gladness
I don’t have what I want
But I can change my tune
Come out of my cocoon
And be a butterfly
And fly
Positioning my wings like a Y
Which stands for yes
Saying God will surely bless
I’ll do what it takes
To pass whatever test
And if for the first time I don’t do well
And fail
It’s a must that I
Bounce back and prevail
And set sail
For that horizon
For that palm tree
For that calm sea
Did you know the Y also stood for
Ain’t no stopping me
And for the final paragraph of this feel good
Holding three fingers up
Which represent the W for winner
Holding these three fingers from my body
Posing
Not being careless but carefree
Knowing I just gotta make it
It depends on me
Cause yours truly
Don’t want to watch that ship sail by
Without being in it when it sails by
Ahoy mateys
Like Pocahontas
I feel the breeze
As it washes over me
Not forgetting my W and my Y
And what they signify
Remembering that if “they” can make it
Then so can I
