Cold Out Here

Author: Meridian Zuriel
Crime just shot up
Folks looting left and right
Day and night
No food in sight
Broke, pockets empty
Stomach's growling
Trying to feed
Survival is not only a must
It's a need
Death toll has risen
Folks have let go of the rope
Tired of holding on
And waiting for hope
Homes foreclosed on
Bills stacked high
Time to pawn our darlings
Just to get by
It's a sad time
Wish it wasn't so
Wish it wasn't this bad
Reading about tragedy
Is truly sad
It's like you jump I jump
But I want my life
So want yours too
Cause somebody's
Always worse off than you
Not comparing woes
Just stating facts
If you take your life
There's no coming back
Got to be a boxer now
And fight for rights
Cause after the debt ceiling situation
Who knows the future of the nation
Still and all in all
Though stocks fall
Don't you fall
Unless its on your knees
Misfortune and bad news seems to
Spread like a disease
Folks resorting to drugs and alcohol
To escape issues
Partially due to the power
Those in politics have abused
No one's pointing the finger
Just telling it like it is
I pray that we do better
Cause its a shame
When you ain't got no cheddar
Budget cuts, getting laid off
No money coming in
To pay for that cough
Treated for,
Cause you're almost poor
Scraping pennies
Off the floor
Searching for greenbacks
But there are no more
Folks are angry
They want retirement benefits
They hate being underpaid
Check's looking mighty light
For all the money made
It ain't right
Nation's in a fix
Unemployment is ridiculous
The rate is too high
Some people in a position to help
Just won't help you and I
But that's okay
I'm gonna continue to live
Look out for my blessing
When it pulls to shore
Want to already be thankful
For whatever I'm waiting for
Got to die my anger down
Or I may forget how to
Turn that frown around
After today's testimony
That brother was talking to me
Mountains and hills outnumber
But it's all about serenity
Cause whatever happens
At the end of the day
The world can't take away
What they didn't give to me
