Baby Starling

Gazing way up high,
at this tiny bird soar through this baby-blue sky.
Without a solitary care,
he flutters he floats through the air.
Until a crashing thud,
leaves him sunny side up and stuck in the mud.
Willing himself to once again stand,
bewildered as this was not planned.
Trembling as his heart does pound,
fighting for his feet to once more touch the ground.
Rocking side to side,
craving the courage to once again glide.
Thunder like footfalls fall too near,
every inch of his body quivers in fear.
Strength he finds to stand once more,
beak wide open as at last he feels the floor.
Stunned and shocked,
yearning to move but every sense of motion is locked.
Motionless he stands,
until he's swooped up in her hands.
Wounded wings begin to flutter,
but refrain as the touch melts him like butter.
To safety this Angel does bring,
the trembling heart of this BABY STARLING!!!
