Fearless

Don’t take no junk
I ain’t no punk
I’m flatfooted
I’m bold
Got courage
To stand up to you
Tell you like it is
Not cutting corners
You cut your eyes at me
But my eyes
Cut through your blouse
I burn a hole in your chest
As I express
Cause I wouldn’t be able
To rest
If I marinated the truth
And wasn’t direct
And I believe
Some folks will respect
Someone who’s not out
To impress
You can see it in my face
By the way I dress
That I’m serious
What I believe in
You should believe in too
Cause you and I
Me and you
Been growing up on the same thing
Learning the same lessons
Getting the same education
Now all of a sudden
We want the modern, we want the new
All it takes is a few
To start a new belief
And before you know it
The wagon train is full of folks
Who want the new
Rather than continue with the old
Then you look at me
Eyes ice cold
Thinking you’re hurting me
Murmuring and yacking
As I stand up front
Discussing what you already know
You wish I was the type of person
That holds back
Taking slack
Putting up with flack
But that ain’t how I roll
I care about my soul
And if I got to stand alone
Then I’ll stand alone
Rather stand alone
And follow Jesus on the throne
Than to have more than one ID
Gotta lead by example
Can’t afford to have blood on me
