Violence Solves 0

Young man
No older than me
Is gone
Killing is stupidity
And we’re not talking
Self-defense
We’re talking about
Killing over nonsense
Over turf
Over shoes
Over drugs
Over whatever
Victim’s gone forever
Fatality rises by the day
And it’s sad to say
It’s the same boys and men
From gangs
Buying guns
Spending money on the wrong
Animosity is so strong
It can land you in for life
Or it can mean death row
Animosity pulls the trigger
Common sense’s not listened to
Pride won’t let you let it go
First thing you want to say
If I came your way
Start talking this stuff to you
“Stop judging me”
Nobody’s judging you
Just talking
Hoping your ears are pricked
What you see
Is what you get with me
- you act nonchalant
Like you don’t care
You shrug your shoulders
And sometimes
Remorse is not there
How can they die
And you not get punished?
Crime done and no penalty
Is not fair
Number’s got to go down
Too many casualties
Too many guns around
Too many young people
Up in arms
Wish talk like this
Regardless of the speaker
Aroused a difference
Sparked a change
Helped a life
Penetrated a mind
Convicted a heart
Evoked a new start
Leave the wrong crowd if you can
Find the strength and courage
To take a stand
Be a better man
Even if lifelong friends oppose
Your change of plans
