Stigma
10 October, 2011
Author: Meridian Zuriel
Labeled like a can of peanut butter
Do you know me?
Does my voice give it away?
Does my nationality give it away?
Does my appearance give it away?
What is it then?
Beloved,
We are many
But we are all different
Our thoughts
Our views
Our beliefs
One is not all
All is not one
True.
The label wearer can generate the stigmatization
By actions
By the untamed tongue
But what is, see it
What isn’t, assume it not
Some advertise it
Some don’t announce it until asked
The label may be expired
The label may be misread
Whatever your character reads
Will manifest itself
No explanation necessary
------- Author's Notes -------
Inspired by a few women in the audience at the set of a sitcom. |
