Author: Dino Hi
The valley, holds it's secrets
But only to a few
With-in it's veins of the belly
The beauty of it's secrets
Is unwillingly shared with others
And is guarded
Those chosen to be hand led
Will yell "Chee PoNo!"
Satisfying their curiosity
Like a Garden of Eden

Capricorn (82.46.181.201) -- Sunday, November 6 2011, 09:54 pm I really like this Dino - with its air of mystery and I like the comparison to the Garden of Eden. Yes, it does raise many questions too. What does Chee Po No mean? |
Dino Hi. (24.19.113.200) -- Monday, November 7 2011, 09:57 am Mahalo Cap! Chee Pono! A Hawaiian expression of satisfaction, gradification, elation). Just like "Oh yah!, Hell yah!, ye hah!, Bloody good! or a war cry (Hoorah!). In my younger years, I used to make many trails in Hawaii. This valley had many mysteries and hidden beauty. Ancient history, going back to 1400, battles, and even World War 2 bomb tunnels, and storage caves that are abandon. Yet hidden, are pools, stream, giant bamboo, elephant ear vines, fruits, banana, palms and ferns. Just a memory now......Thanks Cap!...Great to hear from you. Take care! |
Capricorn (82.46.181.201) -- Tuesday, November 8 2011, 12:15 am That sounds wonderful Dino!History going back to 1400 - fantastic! I'm wondering how tall is the giant bamboo? We have a bamboo plant in our garden, which we have to keep cutting back as it keeps growing tall. What great memories, Dino! I'm so glad yoou wrote this poem. |
Dino Hi. (24.19.113.200) -- Tuesday, November 8 2011, 03:43 am Aloha Cap!...How can I describe walking through the unpath wonders of a jurassic jungle? Standing under taro leaves bigger then your umbrella. Seeing purple passion fruits hanging from vines, and another of yellow. The split leaf philodendron vines like elephant ears. Crossing pools like a King's bath, and then to stumble upon the magnificent bright golden yellow of the "Vivax giant green stripe bamboo" clumping together to reach 70 feet and as big as your upper arms in diameter. How can I describe in words, unless you've stood there in "Awe?"....Mahalo Cap for your comment. |
Capricorn (82.46.181.243) -- Wednesday, November 9 2011, 10:01 pm Your reply is like a poem itself, Dino. Your descriptions are awesome. Bamboo - 70 feet high, vines with leaves like elephant ears. Sounds like paradise to me! Have you any pictures? |
anonymous (24.19.113.200) -- Thursday, November 10 2011, 03:28 am Pictures Cap, like looking through a key hole in a door. Standing there, the giant bamboo canopy, blocks out the blue sky and sunlight, along with the huge monkey pods, koa, and hanging roots like tarzan's swing from the gigantic Chinese Banyan. It's Avenue of the Giants, and the keyhole of a picture, cannot give it justice. So I keep those key holes, and I have a string of pearls to look at. But I can't touch and feel or smell the gems. So I imagine, as I stare into the key holes of years ago. |
