While Her Daughter Gently Sleeps...
17 December, 2011
Author: Ben Franklin
Her heart painfully weeps
While her daughter gently sleeps.
No Christmas presents under the tree.
No food in the house for breakfast in the morning
Looks out of the window to a day that is about to be dawning
Other people’s festive cheer is all she can see,
It would be nice if she had enough money to buy some milk to make a mug of tea
White snow would be nice as it would
Block out the black,
I guess it’s just going to be herself and her daughter again in their non-heated flat.
------- Author's Notes -------
When we unwrap our presents on Christmas day guys, just try and remember the people that have nothing to open, are lonely or are on the streets. |
