The Cycle (it Just Goes Round And Round)
12 February, 2012
Author: Meridian Zuriel
No dignity
Immorality
Foul living
Hypocrisy
Gone is integrity
Where it was inhabited
Is just a vacancy
Like David
Who sinned many a time
The lusts of the flesh
Control the mind
Temptation kicks in
Hormones rage
Spotlight beams in
Satan takes center stage
Victims from all backgrounds
Regardless of age
Like a zoo lion
Trapped in a cage
Chain-bound
Hand and foot
What has become of self-respect?
Plagued with a burdensome defect
Infected
Disrespected
Misdirected
Value self
From head to toe
Your face, your body
‘Live and grow
Mow that grass
That’s trying to rise
Nothing but more corruption,
Pain
And tears in those eyes
Man, look how time flies
Constantly chastised
Suffering,
When it doesn’t have to be
That’s the point
You and me
We
Don’t listen
We find out on our own
That certain things aren’t cool
The hard way
Who do you think
Will listen to us
When we get old and gray?
The generations after us
Won’t hear what we have to say
Because it’s a cycle
And a cycle repeats itself
Can’t blame someone else
For the cards
We’ve dealt our self
