Time To Grow
3 April, 2012
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
I have raised you the best I could
But you have become a thankless son
I show you love
You show no respect
No consideration for those you effect
So now I think it's time to go
Time to begin your own life anew
It's your turn now to run the show
I see no reason to forestall
Since you think you know it all
I will still love you always
No matter how you think or feel
Someday you'll see
Someday you'll know
A mother's love was to help you grow

Meri (71.251.190.91) -- Thursday, April 5 2012, 05:06 am My parents used to tell me, we discipline you because we love you. Then they'd tell me, "you'll understand some day" and "you'll thank us when you get older." Had to crack a smile at this one. I've heard that when you really get out there on your own, you'll appreciate the love you've had at home... I believe that. So true Dreamer! Made me think about myself. |
barb (66.103.59.160) -- Thursday, April 19 2012, 03:48 pm our kids don't realizethat what we do is to teach them to care, until they get oldthey think we don't know what we are talking about. Our life experiences are what we don't want our kids to have to go through. great insight Becky and good way of exspressing your feelings.Yeahhhhhhhhh |
Dreamer (75.16.238.76) -- Friday, April 20 2012, 01:19 am Thank-you both. I wrote this for a friend who started emptying her next this year... Her oldest was a handful. I agree the realization of life and its lessons come later in life. No matter how much we try to save out children the pain of learning that we went thru, they still have to go thru it themselves before they fully understand the whole parenting thing... Thank-you again for reading.. |
