The Grey
19 June, 2012
Author: Thia
I have learned many a cruel lesson in love.
It wasn’t that long ago I suffered from a broken heart and felt a horrifying withdrawal.
I thought it was behind me, but with your “friendship” renewed.
Oh how quickly the waters rise.
My mind wanders, if you missed out.
Has your mind wondered that too?
Admitting she instilled in you the seeds which helped to make you the man you are today.
Layer upon layer, I start to think myself ugly and second-rate.
When I look in the mirror it is gloomy and grey.
You asked me if I was intimidated.
Tale of the tape, the stats don’t lie.
I am a jealous underdog.
Placing trust in you;
Requiring trust in myself;
And manifesting trust in us.
I will stand strong, composed, sensible and patient.
I will not fall, I will not lose.
The waters will descend, turning the grey, blue.

Tarna (75.16.224.44) -- Tuesday, June 19 2012, 07:28 pm We all have to travel the paths before us.. Some lead us in different directions never to return and some paths come full circle.. To the place we needed to get to, to be the people we are today. Your poem speaks to me of this journey. Loss growth and return. Jealous, second rate... nope |
