A Hot Summer Day
31 July, 2012
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)

I breathe in a heavy sigh of relief
the heat escaping my pores
too hot to try and think
let alone try to move

The stress bubble bursts
and exhaustion is all I feel
yet life goes on continuing
like it or not

I open my eyes in time to see a shadow pass
a familiar knock on the door breaks my rest
I engage in the small talk for a while
but my mind is a million miles away

I enjoy the silence I sit in
wishing it would last longer than it will
again I close my eyes
I breathe in a heavy sigh of relief

Hey Dreamer!

I love the new buttons below the poem that enable poets to share authors' works. Great poem!

You know, it is sizzling...especially in the south. That's why it is very important to hydrate - as I've found out the hard way - because if you don't, you can very well pass out.
