Nan

Author: Shan
We are borrowed from the Lord above
Until he calls us home
Leading us in souls of love
To cherish as we grow
I understand that as you part
You wish us not to weep
But please explain that to my heart
It's a lesson I will keep
I will carry on your strength and love
To me it means everything
That you get to rest with Gramp above
And tell my dad I hear him sing
I cherish all the time we've had
The memories will never fade
Late movie nights
Midnight snacks
And kareokee at the Jade
The way you bounced me on your knee
And held my head against your shoulder
Sprayed us with the garden hose
Until each summer day was over
Making angels in the snow
Decorating for holidays
Each new day I hold
Is blessed with lessons of your ways
You've been a woman I have idolized
My nan
My mentor
My friend
You've brought me up to love and live
Like each days the last to end
You said to me before this day
You had to go and see the Lord
So when your grandkids came to play
You'd be there at the door
You've guided me through love and Lord
And I will do the same
I love you nan
Forever more
We'll chat more when I pray
