I Tried
26 January, 2013
Author: Meridian Zuriel
Lead:
You always see the wrong in me
Nothing involving positivity
Telling lies about my personality
Creating an image so unworthy
You only see what you want to see
Making sure to destroy my credibility
I hate all that you have to say
To you I’m a failure anyway
But I’m facing you
Telling all about you
Nothing you say is true
Now everyone knows about it too
Chorus:
I may not have made it
But I can say I tried
Lead:
In your eyes
My works are never realized
All I am is unrecognized
Your main goal is to criticize
I’m invisible
I’m not even alive
Even though I’m right there with you
You’re still blind to the things I do
You can’t see me
The good that I do
But I can see you
The good and bad too
But you don’t see me
Dehumanizing you
Being uncool
Reducing you to miniscule
I’m in a group,
But the group never knew
That one was missing
Even on a rendezvous
Ill repute my name
To get the gossip going
Instead of helping the helpless
The gossip group keeps on growing
Chorus:
I may not have made it
But I can say I tried
(Pause) Out of company,
Was when I freely broke down and cried
Lead:
My efforts go unnoticed
And I know nobody cares
The only mission you’re striving for
Is to see that I’m no longer there
You know a lot about me
But you only see what you want to see
Compliments have yet to roll off your tongue
Because you claim to never see the good I’ve done
Chorus:
I may not have made it
But I can say I tried
