Smile For Awhile
31 December, 2013
Author: Pondering Red
another year
of no rhyme or reason -
seasons of many opposites,
joys and sorrows,
ups and downs -
Ad infinitum
a cold air mass sweeps
downwards
from the Arctic to
wrap itself around a vast land mass
and breathes a chilling
concerto that escalates
into a crescendo
of a surreal landscape
of ice covered branches
and almost frozen chimney smoke -
the city people wrap blankets around their
memorys - escape into movies and brandy -
to suffocate the ordeals and sadness of the
chapters of the seasons -
and she risks falling
on ice paved sidewalks
as her thoughts
launch and take off -
above
and then below
into the non directions of
deep space -
the cosmic void -
silent screams
silent laughter
beyond human suffering -
into celestial knowledge
of everything and nothingness -
where life is formed
and after death dances
flow around the universes
and beyond -
wherever beyond finds itself -
where no fear exists -
where the cosmic breath
is ready to hold life -
to give new hope -
freshness
and abundances of goodness
and
her footsteps crunch loud
and break her reverie -
her voyage to sense some
of the mystery
she sighs -
as snows sift
over her face -
she feels -
the incredible coldness
of these last few hours
of this old tattered year-
yet,
as in previous years,
a softness
and a sweetness
forms gorgeous mists
of hopes and peacefulness
and understandings,
even evolutions of love,
around this damaged planet
and
just for a little while,
if for only some nano seconds,
the earth
starts to smile
and somewhere in spacetime -
Ad infinitum
