The Wish

How I wish I was a child?
How I wish I could just sleep?
How I wish I was a child?
How I wish I could just weep?
I would like to be the infant in the cradle
Who effortlessly draws people's attention
I would like to be the infant in the cradle
A symbol of joy and cheerful celebration
I came to this world smiling
I knew nothing about the pains of life
While those around me were rejoicing
I grew up to see the strife
While I knew nothing of heartbreaks
While I knew nothing of sadness
The world was a mere reflection
Of my true inner madness
The sleeping child inside the cradle
The sleeping child that I once was
The sleeping child inside the cradle
The sleeping child and its lost laughs
The cradle that held me as a child
Has shrunk in size with the passage of time
I yearn for that cradle, oh my lovely cot
I need you so much, I know I will be fine
There were days when I just slept
There were days when I played hard
I remember every bruise, every wound
I remember my craving for every laud
How I wish I was a child?
The unblemished soul, the pure being
How I wish I was a child?
The toddler on his journey to a new beginning...
