Strip Card Game
18 October, 2014
Author: David Russell
This was the game
They both longed to win and lose
They were both fresh and spruce
From steaming bath, steaming shower
Fragrant gels and sprays
Some garments freshly laundered,
Starched,
Some brand new from the outfitters
They faced each other coyly
Across the round table
He took the pack from its silver case
“I’ll deal” he whispered
They took their hands
They had both high and low,
All suits
**
The cards turned up a perfect alternation
First loss was his, his two of Spades,
off with his shoes
It gave her a sense of control
And put her at ease
About her partner having
Made the first step
Next loss was hers, her three of Hearts
Gleaming lacquered stilettos
Matching his suedes
Next his, a four of Clubs
Some quivering hesitation
As he unbuttoned his jacket
A blush with her losing five of Diamonds
Suspense as the discarded top
Was held for those tantalizing seconds
Over her head
Followed by a beam of confidence
A heavy breath with his six of Spades
A crisp poplin shirt laid down
Proud bravado with her seven of Clubs
Deft ease with the zip of her skirt
Mounting desire with his seven of Diamonds
Feet now bare
Adrenalin rush with her eight of Hearts
Her blouse embracing his shirt
Passion simmering with his nine of Spades
Undoing his trouser belt
And lowering them
For limbs’ lovely revelation
The ten of Diamonds for her Stockings
In call and response
The Jack of Hearts, off with his singlet
The Queen of Diamonds her bra
The King of Hearts his briefs
The Queen of Hearts her briefs
The ace superfluous –
They found that in their fulfillment
