When My Time Is Up
16 January, 2015
Author: Mark Spencer
When my time is up, do not weep.
I’ll be wide awake, not asleep.
I’ll see things I couldn't before.
To the empyrean heights I’ll soar.
And though I will miss those I love,
I’ll watch over them from above.
And I’ll be there through thick and thin,
Until we’re together again.
When my time is up, I’ll be free,
To follow a new destiny.
Unburdened by earthly restraints,
I’ll walk with the angels and saints.
Don’t look at the flesh that I've shed.
My spirit won’t rest with the dead.
This body is something I wore.
But that isn't me anymore.
The flesh will find rest in the sod,
As the spirit sings praises to God.
And I will drink from a new cup,
On the day when my time is up.
