Walkin' Away
1 October, 2015
Author: Shiloh
Times past,
I walked away.
Yeah, from a lot of things,
a lot of things.
Stuff that was rough,
things that hurt,
things that made me cry.
Never did get far,
for all my walkin' away,
though.
No, never far at all,
never far enough.
Seems that even today,
decades of time later,
I can just turn around a bit,
reach out,
and touch it.
Whatever it is that's still
right behind me.
Lots of things back there
to try to walk away from;
memories, tears,
anger, fears, dead hopes
and dead dreams....
heartaches and heartbreaks,
pain and questions
that don't have any answers.
Lots of things back there,
but I can still just turn around a bit,
reach out,
and touch it.
It's still right there,
and I can't walk away far enough
in all this time
to get away.
