Now That You're Alone

Author: Seizure
Driving home late one night, something there didn't feel right
Someone cut me off and I had to turn tight, the wheel slipped and I saw the light
Slid my car straight off the edge, I tumbled down where the rocks could wedge
As life dropped just like a sledge, I took that time to make a pledge
I'm coming back it doesn't matter how I do, I'd battle Hell and I'd leave God too
If there's a thing that I can do, trust me that I'd do it for you
I just have to see you too it's killing me what I have to do
You know the wait is the worst, I'm only visible on the 31st
It's been two years, you can't see me, I thought for sure that you would see
Me standing by, near your side, just one glance could set me free
I wasn't there to help you raise our son, but I'm proud of what he's done
Watch him play he has his fun, if anyone could help, he's the one
Sometimes when I watch him play, he smiles then he looks away
I really wish that I could stay, I don't control when I fade away
He never really saw my face, but he stares off into space
I passed away before we met, he's the piece I can't replace
Thirty first again, and the clock is ticking down
It's the last chance I have to see you before I drown
My energy is fading and my soul will break apart
I already gave up Heaven so there's nowhere else to start
I'm inches from your face, it's 11:59
I'm screaming all I can, but you're sipping on your wine
You glanced in my direction like you could see my display
I reflected in your eyes but then you saw me fade away

The 31st is a reference to October 31st. It's more-or-less a Halloween poem. |
