I Remember When
11 November, 2016
Author: Shiloh
I'm old now, and
I was once young and foolish and
thought I was indestructible,
but I was wrong.
I learned
that I could bleed and
feel pain and
hurt and
be afraid,
oh very afraid.
But I made it, which
I wonder at,
even today.
Why me,
when I had nothing, then?
Why so many who did not,
who had so much, then?
The foolish teenage bravado
of youth
fades quickly like the mist
when the hot metal meets the skin
and takes you down.
But I made it, which
I wonder at,
even today.
