We have this connection,
it is fragile,
delicate,
beautiful,
and so strong
that it has endured so long.....
longer than most men dare dream...
How long has it been now?
Near 49 years of months,
long weeks and longer days
and agonizing hours...
Quite an investment in time.
But this thing,
this beauty, this wonder,
this gift from you to me,
this has existed this long,
so very long,
and I can only appreciate this happiness,
forever.
It is not a small thing,
e'en though it is nothing
that I can openly share with you,
it is a great and wondrous thing —
and though it is hidden from most,
we have it, together,
and we know the value,
we have the small bit of happiness
that it allows us,
to feel what we feel,
to think and dream what we dream,
and to understand what we do not have,
and what we do have.
What we have is all the more valuable
because we know.
We know.
That is not a lot,
but it is enough.
