Be Still In Different Directions

background noise of yellow cranes
drilling -
this is my white noise -
almost calming - i rationalize -
eight in the morning -
good start to the day -
looking good, says the image in the
hand held mirror - feeling lighter -
joints feel elastic - thoughts get in the way
of freedom -
i am my thoughts - complex it is -
the thinking process -
the learning - the memories -
i can walk with you in the tall grasses -
will you lead or be side by side ?
i see my self sitting on the stone tiles
eating your chapatis and watching your actions,
your graceful movements despite your height,
your enticing words and deep conversations -
the winds gently cool the dampness
of mountain mists from my forehead -
you can do this - you say -
you are not bound to anything -
to anyone -
say your mantra - and be very still -
let your heartbeat direct you -
i let go and enjoy the scents and sounds of the valley
so blissful - so light -
the cranes keep drilling - pounding away -
i am lost here - stuck in a routine of dullness -
a revolving rusty broken door that offers little
newness or possibility -
yet again, i rationalize -
things are good - appreciation of solitude -
open eyes - heightened perception -
the door is evolving -
you went your way a long time ago
into the valley of low clouds and
apple orchards and mountain peaks
a pretty picture
i perceive your serenity
and take some lessons from
your mandala
and slowly paint my own...
