Once Upon A Time

Thoughts of you begin to cross my mind
I can’t say that I loved you, I can’t say that you were ever mine
What I can say is we were “together†once upon a time
You were a silly goose, a childlike version of a man
You made me laugh, you made me cry, you encouraged me to be the woman I am
You loved me, you lost me, you hurt me, you tossed me aside for someone else
Yet I had already given up and set myself upon an old dusty shelf
It wasn’t my fault it wasn’t yours, it was simply the twist of fates
I was too early, you were too late
I understand now that my love for you was pure
It was not “that love---amourâ€
We were the best of friends that is all it was meant to be
Mistakenly took the next step thinking that we were to become a “weâ€
So as you whisk by upon a cloud think of the you and me and oh how silly we used to be
A smile crosses my face
I send you a hug and a warm embrace
I wish you the best, this life was nothing more than a test
Thank you for showing me the way
We will see each other again somewhere far far away
