Too Young

Author: Shan
I was 10 when I moved in by the tracks
Met a friend, who then, always had my back
Good intent, played ball, played tag, made tents
What I wouldn't give
to go back to those days my friend
Every fight we had would end in amends
Even when it made no sense, we stayed to its end
Traded notes, rode bikes, told jokes, late nights
We made it through it all
Never faded
Never let each other fall
I nearly fainted when I got your call
You barely made it
I stayed there, and I waited
You were supposed to have made it
So why did you go to the gated, I hate it
One look at the Doc and I lost it
What causes one under 30
To drop like a drip from a faucet
I'm so lost without you, it's like I'm haunted
But I make the best of days just like you wanted
You were supposed to stay
But no more time's allotted
And God, well he will just flaunt it
He takes everyone he's ever wanted
Makes us break whatever's been bonded
But for what's sake?
I gotta say,
I can't wait to get there and see your face
Until then I remain
With you in my brain and my heart
Where nothing is able to break us
Or tear us apart
