Stay Awhile

When Sadness catches up with you
She will grab you by the sleeve
She will pull you in a warm embrace & you will never want to leave
Her salty tears will damp your shoulder as you ease her quiet cries
Sprinkled with tales of how happiness fed her a lifetime worth of lies
And her sorrow, it will consume you!
It will ache down to your bones
You will feel the fear and resist the urge to finally let her go
Because she is an old familiar friend
One to which you feel obliged
So stay awhile, Sadness - we can catch up like old times
