Bites Of A Dragon
6 January, 2019
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
The bites of dragon run deep
Sometimes reawakening the pains
of a sadness thought long gone
Burning within my heart and soul
Thoughts set aside yet not forgotten
Tears of a long ago time come again
The desert of emptiness
Now growing moist upon my face
Why can't I forget the dragon
and let it die in the ruins of what was?
Why must it's bite run so deep through my veins?
Why must the pain return for no reason on a blue day?
I will look to the sky and breath deep
Putting aside, once again, what was stolen from me
I will take my strength in the trees that bend to the wind
Wiping the tear... I will move on
No words spoken of inner pains
No mention of the ugliness that resides within
I push it away, like the wind in my hair, it blows past me
I will tuck it away... I will continue my journey
Looking ahead without looking back
The bites of the dragons may still sting
But the future is bright without them
But sometimes, on a blue day... they still reside
