Stillness
11 May, 2019
Author: Sarah Bilby
I decided to go out in the world.
Be still.
Listen.
I heard
a bee buzzing nearby,
birds singing,
the wind
in green leaves,
and I thought surely,
this must be the voice
of Mother Earth,
trying to teach me
there is beauty
in slowing down;
there is beauty
in simplicity,
and if you have ever
let a ladybug
do a ticklish walk
across your palm,
or seen dew on
morning grass,
or marveled at
the intricate home
of an orb weaver,
or tried to find
Ursa Major
in the night sky,
you have known wonder,
you have witnessed
a bit if the universe
and for a brief
and shining moment,
felt you are a part of it.
