Unfolding Melancholy
27 May, 2019
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
The melancholy unfolds
with death overhanging
Not just one loss
But of all those that
fought for us,
so we could be us
So many lives gone
Many unknown
or only known by their family
forgotten with time
Now, only a peaceful sound
The flapping of a small flag
So many stories they could tell
With so many paths they couldn't take
But for one
The path to the inevitable
brutal.. till silent peace
For them the melancholy unfolds
------- Author's Notes -------
For the memory of all the Men and Women that gave their lives so that we could have ours. |
