To Dream... To Smile Again...
22 December, 2019
Author: Shiloh
It’s that time of year
once again,
where the cold puts a sparkle
in your nose,
the breeze puts red in your cheeks,
and you realize that a cup
hot chocolate would fit just right.
You look around and you sort of see things
just this way,
for the very first time,
and you wonder why you never saw it quite like this before…
Wandering without any destination in mind,
you remember times like this
from long ago,
and you smile quietly,
nodding your head to the sounds of old carols
that only you can hear at the moment,
but that you remember singing when you were young.
It’s a good feeling,
and with a fullness of your heart,
you square your shoulders
to match the goodness you feel inside,
because you are enjoying the way you feel right now
and you don’t want to lose that feeling,
as so many do within a day or two following the
celebration and the shared table
with family and friends,
but you silently wish that this time it will be changed –
that after the day is over people will continue to be
as they are today… as they are this season…
Kindness, love, smiles, sincere greetings and happiness
in great abundance,
honest and open to the value of mankind,
and the thoughts of greed or profit or status
are not in your mind or heart…
It is a time to share love,
a time to learn to be kind and caring,
a time to give of yourself to those who need your smile,
a time to share what you can with those who need that as well…
Perhaps, if you do that this year, again,
then it will stick around, perhaps it won’t go away,
perhaps it will be the direction that others will follow…
Surely it is such a good feeling that they can understand it,
that they will want it to continue as you do…
And maybe, just maybe, slowly,
People will start to care and will love,
honestly and openly,
caring only for others,
as it should be, as it will be,
if we are fortunate…
if we are furtunate…
And if so, God will smile on us.
We need God to smile on us.
