Final Purpose In Life

So, what happens to a man
when he reaches his final purpose in Life?
And just what the fuck IS his final purpose?
And who came up with that phrase, anyway?
“Final purpose in life.â€
What the hell is that supposed to mean?
Do you get everything done on your bucket list
and then you lay down and rest for eternity,
or what?
It just sounds like so much has been done,
and then, suddenly, - it’s all over.
Nothing more to do,
nothing more to worry about,
nothing more to plan,
nothing more to look forward to…
you’ve done it – you’ve arrived…
you are AT your “final purpose†in your life.
When you get there,
are you even aware of that fact?
What happens when you hit that milestone?
Do you just sorta blink out and cease, or what?
Do you have any say in the matter –
any say at all?
Or do you just get there,
do whatever it is you do,
and then slam into that brick wall of oblivion?
Is there some form of ceremony, such as a funeral,
or the ancient crossing of the River Styx,
with a coin in the mouth of the deceased to pay for passage?
Myself, I have no idea what the purpose of my life might be,
and truly, I do not want to know.
Such knowledge might cause me to attempt to alter whatever
paths I might take in the course of the rest of my life,
and who knows the dangers or the losses I might have as a result?
Better to not know, better to not wonder,
and best to just keep on as I have been doing.
Eventually it will all work out.
