Un-masked
23 August, 2020
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
In a sea of faceless people with only judging eyes
There are no smiles
There are no dreams to be seen
no things to look forward to
Only Aloneness
My face covered, hides my self
The self I keep hidden
Too easily disguised from view
of the nothing
There's a tomorrow, but it can't be seen
Only a sea of todays
Endlessly rolling into the distance
No end in sight
Only Abandoned
The trees beckon, calling me to talk with them
But I can no longer walk
With no one to catch me if I stumble
The darkness wins
My strength weakens, from the lack
Voids of emotional outbreak
Optimism lost to the expressionless
and quietness presides
Only Faith
"This too will pass", so they say
And the darkness will lift
As my eyes search in another direction
the Light peaks through
And in peace, the mask is removed
and the truth is uncovered
The faces beneath still smile
All is not lost
I Will Heal
