Shades And Shadows Of Purple
1 January, 2021
Author: Pondering Red
December blues
morph into the shades of purple
and then
I fly into the void of darkest night time
swimming
breathing in the terrors of feeling all alone
in the world
in the universe
in the dimensions of spacetime
I see old friends
I run
fast and furious
I lie down in a field and watch
a movie of my childhood
of days that I thought were perfect
grandmother is cooking,
she is making raspberry jam
I cough and choke a bit on the lake water as
I swim out too far
I go further into my future, now my past
and clench my fist and keep
struggling in the vastness
I see distant stars
somewhere
out there
in the land of mystery
I cannot hear the grandmother's voices
I see lights dancing around
each one tells a tiny line of my story
I am being tossed out of my reverie
by the light of Earth's sun
warming my face
in my small room
in the present time
now,
almost midnight,
almost a new year
What colour will January be ?
I dread the shadows of purple
